For those patients without access to a mobile phone or email address can call the National Covid Testing Helpline on 0300 303 2713 to book a test. Patients will be given a phone number to call back or can provide a landline number to get their result.

Covid-19 – The compulsory wearing of a face covering in shops
The introduction of the requirement for people to wear a face covering whilst in a shop is intended to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
There are certain groups of people who are exempt from this requirement and they include:
➢ Children under the age of 11,
➢ People with disabilities
➢ Those with breathing difficulties or
➢ Those who are travelling with someone who relies on lip reading.
These groups of people, their parents or guardians are able to indicate the reason, if required, as to why they are not wearing a face covering.
General practice is under considerable pressure as a direct result of the current challenges they are faced with delivering a service to patients at the same time as coping with the consequences of this virus.
There is no requirement for general practice to issue letters for patients who are unable to wear face coverings, as the Government have clearly defined the exemptions to this requirement.
General practice needs to focus all its time and effort managing those who need their help and not be diverted from this by unnecessary tasks.

While coronavirus has put limitations on all our lives, it is important that you or your baby or child still have routine vaccinations. They protect against serious and potentially deadly illnesses and stop outbreaks in the community. Travelling to and from your appointment
When travelling to and from your appointment, please follow guidelines which include travelling by car, bike or on foot if possible, keeping a safe distance from others and washing your hands regularly. For more details, go to www.gov.uk and search ‘staying safe outside your home’.
When attending your appointment 07/07/2020
When attending your appointment, we will be putting in place a range of measures to minimise any risk of COVID-19:
- social distancing measures will be observed;
- we may have asked you to attend your appointment at a clinic that is not at your usual venue;
- the appointment may take longer than usual.
Due to the ongoing response to COVID-19, our service may have a reduced number of appointment slots available. If you choose not to attend your appointment, please contact your GP practice. It is always helpful for us to know why so we can help you with any concerns you might have. If you still don’t wish to attend the appointment, it can be offered to someone else.
You must NOT attend an appointment if you or any member of your household are suffering from any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 or are self-isolating. If this applies to you, please contact your GP practice so that you can reschedule your appointment for a different time.
If you are identified as clinically extremely vulnerable and have been shielding, please contact your GP practice for the latest advice on what to do.
HMRC Scam Calls 15/06/2020
Trading Standards have been made aware of an automated phone call scam which tells residents HMRC is filing a lawsuit against them for non-payment of tax, and to press one to speak to a caseworker to make a payment. The call goes on to state you will arrested if you fail to pay. We can confirm this is a scam and you should end the call immediately.
This scam has been widely reported and often targets elderly and vulnerable people.
There is also a scam where somebody claiming to be from HMRC calls a resident and leaves a threatening pre-recorded message if they cannot get through.

We are continuing to use the “Total Triage Model” this means that every patient contacting the practice is first triaged by telephone before making an appointment this is important in helping reduce footfall in practice to protect patients and staff from risk of infection and maintain social distancing- Thank you for your continued co- operation

Halton Carers Centre continues to be available to support carers whilst maintaining the government’s advice to help control the spread of COVID-19. We currently offer telephone & email support, being there for people to register for our services and for people to discuss their caring role. You can contact individual workers through the Carers Centre number or their work mobile numbers and emails. The telephone service remains available Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm and Saturday 10am – 1pm throughout our office closure. (An answerphone service is available outside of the hours above).

The Shielded Individuals Hub is a free service for Halton residents who are required to self-isolate from covid-19 from one of the categories below and have no support mechanisms for essential supplies including food and medication.
The categories are:
- Received a letter from their GP advising them to self-isolate due to a pre-existing condition
- Are over the age 70 years
- Are self-isolating because they are exhibiting symptoms
- Are self-isolating because someone in their family is exhibiting symptoms
If the patient answers yes to any of the questions and they do not have someone who can get essential supplies for them they can contact the phone number and email address below.

COVID 19 Update 24/03/20
The Government has issued new guidance for people who are at very high risk of severe illness from coronavirus (COVID-19) because of an underlying health condition. If you're at high risk, you will be contacted by the NHS by Sunday 29 March and strongly advised to stay at home at all times and avoid any face-to-face contact for a period of at least 12 weeks from the day you receive your letter.
Our GP surgeries are facing unprecedented challenges at the moment. Please DO NOT contact your GP or healthcare team at this stage to ask if you’re going to receive a letter – please wait to be contacted by the NHS.

COVID - 19 Corona Virus
The Centre will be closed for 2 weeks as of 23/03/20 for group sessions; however staff will be available for phone consultations.
Counselling sessions will continue during this period but clients are asked to adhere to the advice below on attendance
We are hoping to re-open 6th April; however this will depend on Govt advice
Please do not attend the Centre if you
- Are over 70
- Classed as vulnerable, health wise
- Have the symptoms of Corona Virus, being consistent cough and high temperature
Please wash your hands frequently and thoroughly
Use tissues if needed and dispose of immediately
We have increased the cleaning of the Centre to protect counselling clients, staff and volunteers
We will be following government advice and will keep you informed if we are advised to alter these plans.Due to the coronavirus our staff will be wearing protective clothing. Please don’t be alarmed this is to minimise infection and protect patients and staff. Thanks for your co-operation
Due to unprecedented demand on prescription ordering we are struggling to process requests within our usual timescale and requests may take longer to process. Please allow an extra 24/48 hours in order for our team to process the prescription. Pharmacies are also experiencing a heavy demand please allow up to 7 days for repeat prescriptions to be processed at the pharmacy. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.

From today Tuesday 17th March Halton Carers Centre will be closed to all visitors except those with pre-booked therapy appointments.
From 4pm Friday 20th March, the Carers Centre in Runcorn and our office in St Maries, Widnes will be closed for any face to face and all Halton Carers Centre staff will be working from home.
