All GPs offer contraceptive advice and prescriptions. Our practice nursing team sees most patients for contraceptive follow-up appointments.
We are not currently offering IUCD fittings (coils), and advise patients requiring coil fitting to attend local family planning clinics. Details of these clinics are advertised in reception.
We perform annual checks and removal of the IUCD’s.
Emergency contraception – Patients requiring emergency contraception need an appointment with a GP or nurse practitioner the same day.
We recommend that all adult patients have a NHS health check every 5 years. Patients who don’t attend clinics for conditions such as Asthma, Diabetes etc. will be routinely invited every 5 years to attend for a health check. It is important that you attend your health check appointment as this helps us identify problems with your health in the infancy stages and early intervention allows us to help and support you manage your health and wellbeing.
We work very closely with “Halton Health Improvement Team” who offer a wide range of services and classes to help patients and their families manage their health and wellbeing.

These clinics are run by the midwives. If you become pregnant, you will need to fill out a self-referral form to the Halton Midwifery Service available from Reception. The midwife will then call you and you will be given a ‘booking appointment’ and the midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks. You will be seen regularly throughout your pregnancy, either at the practice or at the local hospital, or both.
